IASIS HEALTHCARE BREAKS GROUND AND
NAMES NEW HOSPITAL MOUNTAIN VISTA MEDICAL CENTER
Mesa, Arizona September 7, 2007 – City officials and members of the community joined IASIS Healthcare executives today for a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the beginning of construction on a new 178-bed hospital in Mesa, Arizona.
Mountain Vista Medical Center, a state-of-the-art, full-service hospital facility, will be located at the southeast corner of East Southern Avenue and Crismon Road, near Interstate-60, in a rapidly growing area of Mesa.
Speakers at the event included Mesa Mayor Keno Hawker and IASIS Chairman and CEO David White.
“We are elated to begin construction on Mountain Vista Medical Center. This is a substantial investment in a dynamic community with an increasing need for healthcare services. After many months of careful consideration and planning, we can now look forward to building and opening a high-tech hospital that will provide high-quality healthcare for the residents of this area,” said David White, chairman and CEO of IASIS Healthcare.
Plans for the $175 million facility include a three-story hospital structure with 178-beds in all private rooms. Two medical office buildings will also be built, with connector bridges linking them to the hospital, enabling convenient access between physician offices and the hospital.
Mountain Vista Medical Center will feature a wide spectrum of healthcare services and advanced technology. Highlights of the facility include an oversized emergency department with a fast track for minor illnesses and injuries, a large Intensive Care Unit to treat patients requiring a high-level of specialized care, digital and robotic operating suites, state-of-the-art imaging technology, and advanced clinical information systems that include electronic medical records and barcode-scanning for the administration of medications to increase patient safety.
The hospital will work to create centers of excellence in key areas, including cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, obstetrics and women’s health, emergency medicine and surgical services.
“At the very foundation of this hospital will be a profound commitment to delivering the best diagnostic and treatment options available with a relentless focus on creating a positive and comfortable patient experience,” said White.
Mountain Vista Medical Center is scheduled to open in mid-2007. The 178-bed hospital will provide comprehensive healthcare services and will feature a full-service emergency department with 30 beds and a fast-track for less serious illnesses and injuries; a focus on cardiac care, including open-heart surgery and less invasive treatments for heart and vascular disease; state-of-the-art surgical systems and diagnostic imaging technology; and a beautiful women’s and maternity center with labor and delivery suites and a level II nursery.
