The birth of your baby is an exciting and special event in your life. We know how important it is to give birth at a hospital you trust. At Mountain Vista, we’re committed to providing you and your baby with the best possible start in life.
Labor, Delivery, and Recovery
You will experience labor, delivery and recovery in a private, spacious, and beautifully decorated LDR suite. Our suites are designed with hardwood floors, crown molding, rich wooden cabinetry and decoratively tiled bathrooms. Each room is equipped to maximize comfort during labor with an adjustable bed, walk-in tub, oversized shower, recliner chair for your labor coach and flat-screen TV.
Of course, our state-of-the-art birthing equipment and technology help ensure a safe delivery and outstanding medical care for the first hours of your baby’s life. Our experienced nursing team is specially trained in the delivery of babies and care of newborns.
Mountain Vista has two surgical suites dedicated to maternity cases. If you need a Cesarean Section, you will deliver your baby in one of our dedicated operating rooms located right in the birthing center.
Postpartum
After your baby is born, you have had time to recover, and we know that your baby is doing well, you will move to another private room in our women’s center. Nurses in the postpartum unit provide couplet care, where the same nurse takes care of both you and your new baby.
Rooming-in
We encourage mothers to keep their new babies in their rooms as much as possible. Rooming in gives families time to bond and helps new parents learn how to care for their infant with the professional assistance of our nursing staff.
Continuous Care Nursery
Our continuous care nursery provides a higher level of care for babies who are sick or who need special medical treatment. The nursery is staffed with nurses who are experienced in the care of newborns.
Breastfeeding
Lactation assistance is available for mothers who choose to breastfeed. Our lactation specialists will help you learn the best techniques for feeding your baby and how to be sure your baby is getting enough milk.
Visitors
The birthing center offers flexible visiting hours and comfortable waiting areas for families.
Infant Security
Our birthing center has a comprehensive infant security plan and we take many different measures to keep our tiniest patients safe in the hospital.
We use a high-tech electronic surveillance system to keep track of each baby. After birth, a small monitoring band is placed around the baby’s ankle. The band’s signal transmits each baby’s location to the nurse’s station and alerts nurses if a baby moves too close to a birthing center exit.
Childbirth Classes (view schedule)
Caring for your baby starts long before birth. Prenatal care is essential for the healthy development and wellbeing of your baby, and knowing what to expect during childbirth is important for a safe delivery. We offer a wide variety of classes to help you prepare for the birth of your baby and to teach you how to care for your newborn.
