Childbirth and Family Preparation Classes
Mountain Vista Medical Center offers a variety of classes for parents, dads and siblings to help them prepare for a new baby including Prenatal Classes, New Dads Class and Preparing to Become a Sibling Class.
This prenatal class series is offered in both 2-week and 3-week consecutive classes to prepare you for welcoming your new arrival with ease. You’ll learn about pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and the first few days with baby. The class includes information on emotions you may experience during pregnancy, health and nutrition, and the anatomy of pregnancy. Find out what to expect during the labor process including the signs and stages of labor, pain management options and birthing information. Postpartum care and an infant care class are also included. Prenatal classes include a tour of the Maternity Center. A resource book is provided to each couple.
Enroll Mother Only. One support person may attend.
Cost: $54 per couple
Maternity Center Tours
We offer tours of our Maternity Center monthly, typically on the third Thursday of each month and select Saturdays. The tour provides an opportunity to see where you will deliver your baby and get some of your questions answered. A tour of Labor & Delivery, Level II Special Care Nursery and the postpartum units will be provided. Registration is required. This tour is limited to 20 couples per tour.
It is only necessary to register one time per couple. Please do not register both participants.
Preparing to Become a Sibling
This is a 60-minute class to help young children, ages 2 to 6, prepare for a new baby brother or sister in their family. Positive sibling skills will be the focus of the class. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the entire class. A light snack will be served. The class is taught by family medicine physicians who are fathers of multiple children. A parent must stay with the child(ren) the whole time.
