Latest Minimally Invasive Technology Expands Surgical Capabilities
Test Drive the da Vinci Si Surgical System on Thursday, Jan. 27, from 6 – 8 p.m.
January 24, 2011
The next generation in robotic technology is now at Mountain Vista Medical Center. The upgrade to the third generation da Vinci Si includes 3-D technology to precisely mimic a surgeon’s fingers, wrists and hands to effectively perform minimally invasive surgical procedures. The community can learn more about how this technology is improving lives and can also test drive the system on Thursday, Jan. 27, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Classrooms 3 & 4.
Pankaj Jain, M.D., and Stephen Frausto M.D., F.A.C.O.G., will discuss the latest in minimally invasive prostatectomies and hysterectomies using the da Vinci Si Surgical System. Mountain Vista’s Director of Surgical Services, mother of three children and recent patient, Noelle Pereira, RN, BSN, CNOR, will share her first-hand experiences of her da Vinci Si hysterectomy. “After meeting with my physician, we determined that a hysterectomy could help enhance my lifestyle and enable me to return to the daily activities I enjoy most,” stated Pereira. “I chose the da Vinci Si procedure so that I could benefit from a quick recovery, which is exactly what I experienced. Within just a couple days following my surgery in August, I was out and about enjoying lunch with friends.”
With the da Vinci Si, surgeons can perform even the most complex and delicate procedures — including gynecologic, cardiovascular and urologic surgeries — through very small incisions with exact precision. As an alternative to traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopy, the da Vinci Si provides benefits for most patients, including significantly less pain, less blood loss, less scarring, a shorter hospital stay and faster recovery time. In many cases, procedures performed with the da Vinci Si also improve clinical outcomes of minimally invasive surgeries.
